This mostly instrumental album is a wonderful thing to listen to. Canadian David Wilkie has combined his love
for western music with his affection for traditional Celtic ways of presenting songs. The lead instruments here
are mandolins, violins, tin whistles, guitars, and even a Celtic harp. Hauntingly beautiful, it is easy to
get lost in these rich and wonderful combinations of sounds.
Among the song titles are "Shenandoah," "Little Joe, the Wrangler," "Garry Owen/Custer Died a-runnin’,"
"The Colorado Trail," "Roundup In the Spring," "Down by the Brazos," "Goodbye Old Paint," "The Gal I Left Behind
Me," and "Annie Laurie." Some are foot stompers, some are soft and melancholy, but all are musical renderings at their most melodic.
This is a great new way to listen to your favorite cowboy tunes.
