Duke Davis
Western Music - Cowboy Songs
Duke Davis was raised in Schertz, Texas, 25 miles northeast of San Antonio and has been around the cowboy
lifestyle his whole life. Since 1966 he has been a professional musician and songwriter, and has appeared
in concert with some of the top names in the music business. Duke moved to California in 1979 where he
assembled his award winning band, "Buckshot," which continues to be one of the finest western bands in the
country. In 1994, he moved to New Mexico to pursue his first love of horse training. He presently owns and
operates the High Mesa Horse Ranch in Lamy, New Mexico.
Duke's rugged cowboy image and horsemanship skills gave him the opportunity to work as an actor, mostly
doing "hard riding" in television, western films, and commercials. His five albums, "Destiny," "Time to
Ride," "All Points West," ""Chase the Wind" and "Follow the Wagon") have received international acclaim. His
dedication to the preservation of the working cowboy has driven him to portray the cowboy ideals in his art,
and when e is not performing his music and poetry or producing other artists, he often can be found "day working"
on ranches all over the West.
Duke Davis is a singer, songwriter, producer, music publisher, cowboy, actor, horseman, roper, poet and
promoter. He has been featured at virtually every major cowboy gathering and western festival in the country,
and has performed in Canada, France, Holland, England and Switzerland. He and his wife, Ruthie, run Rockin'
Double "D" Productions which produced albums for cowboy poets and western singers. They also produce their
"western Fandango" package shows that supply communities with cowboy entertainment, chuckwagon cooking and
rodeos. In addition, they produce the Annual New Mexico Cowboy Classic and serve as advisors for many of the
cowboy gatherings in the country, as well.
Duke has won numerous awards and nominations from the California Country Music Association, Country Music
Associations of America, Academy of Western Artists, the Western Music Association, the Music Industry
Coalition, and was selected as the official cowboy poet laureate of the Santa Clarita Valley in California. Even
with his busy touring and production schedule, and managing a horse ranch, he still devotes much of his time
to youth programs and church events.
The talents of Duke Davis have taken him all over the world and garnered many accolades for him, but he politely
says, "I'm the happiest when I'm just forkin' a good horse and chewin' the fat with a friend!"

Chase the Wind
There are few collections of cowboy songs that come closer to being "cowboy stories set to music" than
this one by Duke Davis.
