I was born and raised on a ranch in South Central Texas and my ranch life experience gave me the foundation to research and write about cowboys, cowgirls and life in the west.   For thirteen years, I managed a 2000 acre cow/calf operation and I remain in touch with livestock to this day, raising Registered Paint horses. 
I have performed at major cowboy gatherings throughout the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, Nevada, Colorado and Utah, individually and as a member of the group, Sunset Serenade (which includes Frank Roberts and Joe Wells). 
I have been an invited performer at the Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering at Alpine; The National Cowboy Symposium in Lubbock; the Cowboy Symposium in Camp Wood, Texas; George West Storyfest in George West, Texas; the Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, and the Colorado Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Arvada.  I have performed at state parks, schools, other poetry festivals and for business and private groups.
I’ve received the top Reciter awards at the Western Legends Roundup and Cowboy Poetry Rodeo in Kanab, Utah.  I was named among the top five female poets by the Academy of Western Artists in 2005 and 2006. I was also in the top five for female poet of the year with the Western Music Association in 2006. My poetry CD,  Beneath a Western Sky, was released in 2005.  Some of my stories and poems are collected in my book, Somewhere in the West (Cowboy Miner Productions, 2001). I was a contributor to The Big Roundup (New West Library, 2001) anthology that received the AWA Buck Ramsey Best Poetry Book Award, and am included in The BAR-D Roundup, a compilation CD from the Center for Western and Cowboy Poetry, sponsors of CowboyPoetry.com.  My poetry has been featured on the radio and in other publications.  Short stories can be found on www.Texasescapes.com an online magazine, Texas Escapes, features short stories and articles about the history of Texas.
I conduct a class with the Gifted and Talented students at Leakey School and I have judged oral competitions and writings in area schools. 
I live in my home town of Leakey, Texas where I enjoy researching and writing about the west.
