Roy Rogers
"King of the Cowboys"
Western Music & Cowboy Songs
Roy Rogers, "King of the Cowboys," was best known for his cowboy movies and his TV
show that ran for 6 years. Roy’s well-known wife, Dale Evans, worked with him on the
set as well as performing as his singing partner on several radio shows, and attending
parades and rodeos throughout the country.
Roy Rogers was a hero and a role model for kids back in an era when the good guy won
and the bad guy was defeated and went to jail...where he belonged. In Roy Rogers’
world there was honor and decency, women were treated with the utmost respect, and
if you had a hand-shack deal with the good guy he would always come through...no
lawyers necessary.
In 1933 Roy Rogers, Bob Nolan, and Tim Spencer formed the Pioneer Trio.
The following year a fiddle player was added to the group and the named was changed
to the Sons of the Pioneers.
